When he was wicked- 3.75⭐️ 3.5🌶️

This is the young widdow/remarriage/he fell first/ forbidden love book plots

The tension and pining on Michael’s part is good, but how many times are they going to be stuck in the rain? Or rained on? Or in the middle of a rain storm?

I hated how this book messed with the timelines. With it happening while 2 of the other books are happening made it real confusing.

The book is the most like a standalone. But in place of the bridgerton family you got John, but you don’t get to actually get to know him and why he was so great… you only get the guilt associated with him.

I liked Francesca, but I have a soft spot for typical middle children… and she definitely is one. She is barely mentioned in the other books, hardly any of her first love story is talked about while it’s happening.

Michael is delicious, but has the Julia Quinn typical man temper.

All this to say, I still really liked the book!

This is definitely the most steamy and sexy of the Bridgerton books so far but I struggled to like either the male or female leads. Francesca because I felt like girlie could never make up her goddamn mind EVER and everyone else suffered because of that and Michael because the angry playboy trope is just so overused in this series. I think Julia Quinn maybe tried to bring consent into the equation with this book (unlike so many of the others in the series coming before this one) but it still did not work as anything other than explicit consent/a strong “yes” means that the action is nonconsenual! but whatever I get it’s a historical romance and times were different back then, it just makes me uncomfortable to read it. I think if I had to see/hear “her womanhood” or “her femininity” one more time, I would have gone crazy.
and yes i will be reading the next two because im invested in this stupid book series.

I really enjoyed this book, the characters were likable, although, like the rest of Julia Quinn’s books I’ve read so far, the male character specially has some red flags, I feel like Michael is one of the men with fewer unhealthy behaviors towards women.

Also, I really really really like Francesca, of course she has flaws, but I appreciate her.

This one. This book, oh wow. This has to be one of the best Bridgerton books in the series that I have read so far. If you are reading the books in order like me you'll know that Francesca is not mentioned very often in the other books leading up to this one, giving her a sense of mystery. I understood Frannie, and could see where she was coming from which made me feel connected to her and the story. All I can say is this book had me feeling so many things at once (the intimate scenes especially if I can say that >///<). While the second epilogue made me swoon, with how endearing it was.

My negatives are the reoccurring themes, scenarios and character traits from previous Bridgerton books. It seems to be a common issue with this series but I can't really blame Julia Quinn, it's hard to be original sometimes! However I can say this one stood out to me as being much different than the previous five, especially when it comes to Francesca as an overall character. Michael was literally a mix of Anthony and Colin with the ability to realize that they are in love.

In conclusion I like this one!
