I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars because I love me some shifter instalove, but I'm not so sure that 10 minutes of friendly conversation on a surface to ship transfer is quite enough to buy it.

Laurann does a good job setting up the next two books of the series. I'm thinking Maith and Jessa because they have the same style of animosity as Slade and Trisha in the New Species series, and then just for the extra drama and angst of opposites attract Super Alpha Roth and Timid Becky.

Engaging read, well written and very low drama between h/H. Darla and Gnaw were really sweet together, communicated well (such a turn on!) and loved each other - not insta love but no argy bargy either. And got my prerequisited HEA so I’m extra happy.
I enjoyed this book so I think I will investigate this series further (this is book 3 in the series but the first that I have read). I’m really hoping that Jessa and Maith get a story cause the tension is ripe and I’d love them to be together!!

Loved this!

I love the heroines pluck. She is admirable. Gnaw is too sweet too. I LOVED Jessa. I feel like and hope that we get a coupling out of her and Maith . That's going to be epic.

Exciting

This is an exciting tale, full of heart and humour. The heroine comes from a backward planet where women are repressed and is trying to escape with her sister, to find a better place to live. The hero is looked down by humans because of his race and treated badly. After being captured by a scientist race, these two are forced to share a cell and develop feelings for each other. I loved the camaraderie and loyalty of the hero’s group of friends and it was great to see characters from previous books making an appearance too. I just wish it were a little longer!
