Much better than I though it would be.
I was expecting some cutsey crap with the cat "doing" everything. Far from the truth.
Really good mystery story, light reading, with an amateur detective who isn't always right and doesn't have the chiseled chin.
Great change of pace.
This was book one and I plan on reading more.

This is not the best cozy mystery. The writing is fine, and the pace is fast, but the plot leaves much to be desired.

Qwilleran takes a job at a newspaper writing about the local art scene. He also takes an apartment in an old Victorian house owned by a hated local art critic. It is there that he meets Koko, the Siamese cat who can read backwards.

When a local gallery owner is murdered, Qwilleran hunts down clues with the help of Koko.

My issue with this mystery is with the reveal. I felt ripped off. There was also a thread through the plot that focused on characters who made no impact on the story at all. Just a waste of space. It felt as if they were added in to gain word count.

I’ve read better from this author. This one just didn’t measure up.

Definitely a product of its time. I remember I used to enjoy this series, but I don't think I'm going to continue it again - at least not back to back.

Terrible. 🤣

Read for a reading challenge. I did not realize it was published in the 1960's. I found it to be very dated and it has not aged well, in my opinion.
