Someone summed this book up as getting your brain blasted and I have to agree. This book scratched such an itch in my brain, it's funny and incredibly gorey (surprised that didn't make this count as horror) which is my fave combo I don't get to see a lot. I got really attached to the characters as if they are real people. The universe feels fun and unique and this book keeps a lot of it's secrets close to it's chest but you never feel so confused that you can't enjoy it.  I also find the characters so refreshing, you never get to see wet rat little meow meow female characters and this book is chock full of them. The diversity is really unique bc it's effortless, this is the kind of story that normally would only have white male protags, probably all straight too, but it doesn't and the author acts like that's normal, she isn't clearly patting herself on the back

Reread about 1 month later: Still amazing, also there is so much foreshadowing, not just for this book itself but the next two books as well. I am so used to sequels being a cash grab, even in books, that such a well planned book series feels super impressive. Also my partner and I will be on a long car ride and I might play the audiobook for him while I have him hostage. Everyone needs the gospel of TLT

The first 16 chapters were very very slow. But once I hit the halfway mark it picked up, and after 2/3 in, I finished in a day.

The characters are fun and the tone is very fresh. It was great and I am devastated.

The mysterious air of the book is fun. The relationship between Gideon and Harrow feels a little fast and forced, moving from "hate" to "love" with a speed that sometimes feels genuine and sometimes feels toxic. My main complaint is that nobody gets their kisses in in the entire book. Boo. Also, very grumpy that we don't get to enjoy the Gideon/Harrow stevonnie perspective for very long.

Absolutely adored this. Wildly inventive with the weirdest prose and most pathetically and perplexingly lovable characters. Loved being held hostage by this ridiculous, gorgeous read.
