They threw a big twist in about halfway through but then barely explained how it happened. We got like a short one sentence “explanation” towards the end that still left me with a lot of questions. Would’ve liked some more details on it, it’s a lot of information to just leave out

Gabriel was an absent father, working long days in his butcher shop to provide for his family. When his son and daughter-in-law adopt a young girl from Peru, Gabriel isn’t sure how to act or how to be a grandfather. As she melts his heart, a twist complicates Gabriel’s life.

Heartwarming, sweet story that, on the turn of a page, hits you in the gut, stabs you in the heart, twists the knife a bit, and leads you back around to a bit of sweet. An emotional roller coaster that I was not expecting – with artwork that conveys so much emotion.

Note: I am glad I went back and looked at the final eight pages of the story as I got a bit more out of this second pass and it brought me a bit more emotional peace.

A beautifully illustrated graphic novel that confronts a very difficult subject with a main character who has great character development.

Such a great comic.
I'm a big fan of Zidrou's artwork and I'm always surprised by the details.
He shows the best angels and makes the whole thing feel more vivid.

The story is moving, sad at times but never overly dramatic.
It's human and very funny at times.
