I preferred the play but I was glad to have the source material. A great book for kids and introducing them to difficult concepts.

I love how powerful a writer he is. I also love how he intertwines wonderful story-telling whilst bringing to life history.

this book definitely the best out of all the michael morpurgo books i've read so far, however, i didn't completely understand the point of the perspective this book was written in. i guess maybe its to show the journey the horses go on during war? but then, i feel like this could've been done in third person, not quite first person, the person being a horse

I found Steven Spielberg's film adaptation of this book to be a vast improvement over this source material. It's an interesting story, following a horse through the horrors of World War I, and Michael Morpurgo takes an interesting approach to the story. He tells it in first person, from the point of view of the horse. It's a brisk little read, with large print and only 165 pages, but being so brisk, it lacks the emotional depth that Spielberg's film contains.

This was an easy audiobook to fly through. Well written and performed. It was an interesting perspective/lens to look at the events through.

Loved - Loved this book :)
