Book started slowly, told from viewpoint of 4th embryo born 17 years after the first three. Very good at the end but pretty slow to start and get to know the main characters.
Salo--remote father/husband
Joanna--clueless wife/mother

4.5 stars. I read this book at the same time I started watching Succession and I couldn’t help but compare the wealthy, sometimes snarky siblings in the two. In fact, I often found myself picturing some of the characters from Succession as I read. I enjoyed getting lost in this family and its ensuing drama. The end, while satisfying, seemed a little bit too neat. But overall, I loved this story.

Favorite quote:
“…But I could have done better. And not just with you. Which is ironic, since making my family happy is pretty much all I’ve thought about for the past four decades. There’s a lesson there, probably.”
“Is there? What is it? Secure your own oxygen mask first?”

Started it a little slow but I enjoyed this dysfunctional family drama. I really enjoyed "The Plot" by this author and liked this one even more.

4.5 stars. Layered characters and rich, if sometimes heartbreaking, relationships. Beautiful.
