“So what happens now?”
His whiskey-brown eyes watched me for a long moment. No brow furrow. No frustration or anger. His expression was as smooth as I’d ever seen it.
“Now you’re mine.”
The possessiveness in his tone gave me tingles. “I’m yours? It’s that simple?”
“It is for me.”

I'll never tire of the Grumpy x Sunshine trope, and this book nails it perfectly. If the MCs were Disney characters, Evan would be Beast and Fiona would be Snow White – such a cute pairing! I'm so glad that this book cured my reading slump. ✨

Small town grumpy/sunshine romance

There was nothing much wrong with this story. It was well written, had two likable main characters, grumpy/sunshine trope, a decent level of steam etc... But I just wasn't feeling it, and I did start to skim pages towards the end. Also, it had my pet peeve: an epilogue that wasn't an epilogue (our two main characters didn't even feature in it), but was really just a prelude to the next book in the series.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!
I honestly hate myself for not reading this sooner because I enjoyed it so much, definitely one of my favorites for 2021.

I had all the intention to start this right after Fighting For You, but Grace and Asher's story broke me and it was very difficult to move past it even after their HEA. One of the things I'm most thankful for is that this isn't as hard-hitting as that one, I'm not the biggest fan of sad romance books.

This is both your usual but slightly different Grumpy-Sunshine trope. In most books, it's usually difficult for the H and h to be together because of miscommunication and unspoken thoughts. Here even if Evan was reserved and liked being alone, his character opened up to Fiona which made their romance lighter and relatable. There wasn't much push and pull between them, and I liked that a lot.

Also, Kingsley writes family stories so well. This is one of the best small-town romance books wherein family or brothers is part of the backbone of the series. I love reading about the Bailey family as much as I loved the romance aspect.

Despite the 5-star rating, I did have a bit of an issue with the "rescue mission". It was a bit out of the blue, that was an unexpected turn of events that felt out of place with the whole plot. But then again, because it wasn't as heavy as the first book in the series, it was something I can simply brush off.

Definitely super excited to read the next book. I'm thinking if I should do a series review on my blog per book, or as whole. I'll need some time to conceptualize, but do check out my blog in the next coming week to read about my review/s on this series!
