Even though it's insta-attraction it was entertaining read.

Not my favourite of the series but Kristen really delivers on cute, well developed relationships that survive the battles of life in all its harshest forms. Chester is a hard nut to crack, she's independent and serious with life, a total go getter and meeting Finn drags her off course. They experience a lot of firsts together and seeing all the ups and downs they went through is upsetting. I just wish that some of the drama was toned down because it fell over the line of unnecessary.

Awesome ending! He fucking proposed!! He proposed in the most adorable way. Usually I'm not a fan of books like this, but this book surprisingly did it for me. I read it until I got very tired and had to sleep. Then I continued till the end today. Normally, I'm not into the whole instant connection but this author has been surprising me with this series. I just love the writing style and somehow they make it bearable. I like their friendships, which slowly but not suddenly turned into a romantic relationship. Even though they had instant attraction to each other, they decided on being friends. That was good for them. They needed time to be comfortable around each other, to know each other and to really grow together. I liked Finn family. They were funny. I wish we'd gotten to see her family as well. Honestly, I don't have much to say about this book. I liked it. But I didn't know whether to be happy or upset that Finn team won the playoffs because he was fucking playing against Drew's team... Ah so conflicted. I'm glad Jake turned out to be okay. And I'm glad she was okay too. I liked their story, their friendships, their love and their interactions. I felt sorry for Finn. We got to see a different part of him and wow I never thought I'd read a romance book where the main character was infertile. Usually, some bullshit miracle happens and oops their love somehow ran so deep she was able to have a child

3 “Eh, it was a good read” stars for this sports romance

I have to admit, this book didn’t…resonate with me in the slightest.

So here we have Chester “Chess” (h), the photographer FMC with a masculine name and a snarky chip on her shoulder, and we have Finnegan “Finn” (H), a manwhore QB who is a jock through and through with some trauma beneath those rippling pectorals.

One inappropriate photoshoot with strange sass going back and forth leads our leads intrigued by one another, even when H is surrounded by immature locker room talk and 0 depth or dimensions and h has her bi/pan best friend and is “not like other girls”. As they flirt, text, and dance around each other in this romantic game of push and pull, they have to realize to not hurt each other requires laying it out on the table.

It was a struggle reading this book, and I admittedly skimmed. I’m never a fan of snarky banter or when the FMC somehow never has a good relationship with other men so the MMC is literally the only man who can spark joy outside her not-straight best friend. Nor am I a fan of MMC who flirt about being a manwhore.

I did try to see the emotional connection between these two and other characters, but I…just couldn’t. Everything and everyone was flat and mediocre. The MMC really had a monologue displaying how he “isn’t like other guys” and I just had to skip the monologue.

It felt like the author took a bunch of stereotypes about guy athletes and put them into living caricatures of all the guy athlete characters.

And I wish we had more hints about the FMC’s past trauma instead of an info-dump toward the end of the book. I just…couldn’t see how the leads could be in a relationship.

I’m intrigued about Dexter since he’s the only character I actually found profound depth to and he was a minor character.

3 okay ⭐️s. It is what it is. From an objective standpoint, I’m sure this is a great, spicy read. For me, it was all right.
