I liked a few stories. I had to take stars off though because the author turned out to be awful towards women. Extremely disappointed. The reason I liked him was because I thought he took gendered violence seriously. I was such a huge fan. Now I’m just hurt by his work.
Neil Gaiman. I wanted to love this book. I did not. In fact, I am quite repulsed by him at the moment. The stories were extremely well written in that they would draw you in and then surprisingly lead you into the shocking depths of hedonism and masochism. It left an indelible stain on me. I felt like a lamb brought to slaughter.
This entire anthology was a re-read for me, anywhere from the third to the fifth time, depending on the story. That alone should tell you how I feel about Gaiman's writing. Anthologies usually have weaker pieces, but when you're as prolific as he is, and you let your readers decide what to include in them, there's very little room for improvement. That said, I would have picked different excerpts from his novels, but of course, that's because I've already read them. Both as an introduction to his writing and as a comfort anthology you can pick up when you need to read a little Gaiman, this is a fantastic collection.

Loved this, excerpts from some old favourites and some short stories that were new to me.
Neil Gaiman is my favourite author, I don't think its possible for him to write something that I don't enjoy.
