Hilarious and relatable with periods that dragged and periods that read so quickly

SO many great essays in this one, a couple of good essays, and one dud (to me). I enjoy her delivery of the material. While I didn't get caught out actually laughing out loud in public during this collection (as I have in the past!), there were certainly moments where I chuckled or my face broke out into a huge, uncontrollable, knowing smile and people walking by me surely thought I was having a great time with whatever was going on in my Airpods. And I was.

All I need to say about this book is I can always, 100%, without fail count on Samantha Irby to make me laugh harder than any other author I've read. Quietly Hostile works all of Irby's magic - this time placing her stories more in the context of aging and all of the weird, awful shit our bodies do to us as we get older (which is HIGHLY relatable). She also introduced me to my new favorite phrase: "If that's not your ministry." I love Samantha Irby and I hope she never stops writing books.
