Anything that can make me laugh so hard I wake my baby up is worthy of a high rating.

This was my first Samantha Irby book. The self deprecation was just too nonstop for me. It made me feel like she actually hates herself but wants to mask it with jokes. There were disgusting (for me, I can’t deal with poo and there’s a lot), and occasionally funny, and to an extent very relatable. I’m not so concerned with the lack of continuity between essays, because that’s kind of the point of books filled with essays. That you share individual vignettes compiled in one place. I don’t know if I’m the audience, despite being a perimenopausal Black woman.

This book was absolutely hilarious. There were parts where I was laughing so hard that my husband would look at me like 🤨

I picked this book to fulfill the Q on my A to Z reading challenge and I'm so glad I did. I will definitely be recommending this to others because everyone should laugh this hard at a book. It's good for the soul

Not my favorite Irby collection, but it ends with a series of great essays. I don’t know if it’s the nun porn or the overwhelming too-close-to-home diarrhea stories, but this collection just didn’t capture me like her previous books.

You know what charmed me to pieces? Sam’s take on Sex & The City. I agree with her takes 100% and it that essay was one of my favorite things I read all of 2023. Inspiring a rewatch of the show 😆
