Book 2 in the Sutter Lake series. I didn't connect with this one as much as book 1. I think for me it seemed a little too 'damsel in distress'? Don't get me wrong, it was a beautiful love story between Tessa and Liam. The pace was fast so the story moved quickly. It was a bit predictable, amd the epilogue pregnancy was annoying and felt gratuitous. But overall I did enjoy it and will continue the series.

Catherine Cowles is a comfort author for me. Her writing is familiar to me, the formula to her stories is familiar to me, and the way she writes men who are obsessed with their women makes me feral. I know I’m in for a good time. This story was fun to read. The writing was emotional; I could feel the chemistry between the two MC’s, and Liam was a good MMC.
Liam wants to get out of the city to distance himself from his record label and all their demands. He finds himself in Sutter Lake after one of his best friend’s moves there. He meets Tessa at the Tea Kettle in town and is immediately drawn to her. Tessa wants nothing to do with anyone, she doesn’t want friends, she doesn’t want anyone to know her, and she definitely doesn’t want a relationship with one of the most popular artists in the country. Even though she feels the connections between them too. She’s trying to stay hidden from everyone. She’s hiding from her past. But Liam is set on getting her to let the ones around her who love her in. He’s trying to get her to live life.
Highlights:
📌Small Town
📌Romantic Suspense
📌Rockstar
📌FMC on the run
📌Protective MMC
📌Dual POV
