It's a very silly book. Very entertaining if you've ever studied or been interested in media criticism, while being extremely silly about it. If you like Ayoade as a comedian, you'll enjoy the book.
I will say it starts stronger than it finishes. Perhaps the joke of treating a very average film like a brilliant masterpiece only carried it so far. Still a fun short listen though (bonus points for audiobook including side notes about being an audio version)

Minor: Toxic friendship and Classism
Note the triggers are for content in the movie which the book is analysing, as opposed to themes introduced by the book.mariawjw's review against another edition

It's just really not for me. Tip: I think the audio book is a better match.

It felt like watching a movie with a very snarky friend. It was a fun ride, but it didn't really go anywhere.

This might be the dumbest book I’ve ever read and also it made me laugh out loud.

I listened to this book with my husband on audible and it was hilarious. Ayoade goes off on so many tangents that just had us cackling. Well worth the read, or listen
