My mind,” he taps the side of his head, “is where I suffer. Inside my thoughts, there’s chaos, insanity, fear. I cannot fight it. I cannot push it away. But inside all that chaos, there’s you, shining bright, my own star to light the way and show me the path home. Never be sorry for who you are,” he says, more serious than I have ever seen him. “Because who you are is everything to me.”

Wonderful!

I love everything about Alice in Wonderland and love retellings, and this one is now my new favorite one. The Mad Hatter is my favorite always has been since I was a kid and this being a story that he has such a huge part in was even better.

This is not your typical Alice in Wonderland, this is more on the horror side in Wonderland, and its up to the MC Clara Bee to save them all.

The Romance the grows between Clara and Hatter is just beautiful, spicy, and just heartwarming. The Hatter sure does have his way in making you fall in love with him quickly with just the things he say.

I can't wait for the next book

Oh man, I loved this! I loved the characters, the setting, and the plot! I enjoyed seeing a darker Wonderland and learning about why it was that way. It was cool to read a book where someone else went to Wonderland and experienced its madness (darker though it is) instead of the usual. I'm definitely excited to see what comes next in this series!

Really interesting and I got Alice: Madness Returns vibes, though I have to admit I wasn't expecting Alice to be the Red Queen. (Went in not knowing anything.) Love the chemistry between Hatter and Clara. Cheshire was quite interesting, upset that he lost his sister and I can't wait for his story to expand, though I did also feel sorry for White, Dormouse and the Knave/ Prince Alexander.

Good, but...

See my biggest issue is the instalove, and the author knows it when she defensively has Clara tell Chess that it wasn't instalove, she didn't fall in love until the Mad Hare's house. The thing is the Mad Hare's house happens 2, maybe 3 days after Clara arrives in Wonderland so that's a pretty weak argument. The entire story from start to finish takes place over the course of a week. I can definitely see attraction and even behind closed doors moments happening in that time frame, I don't see love whether its prophesied or not. The overall plot and customization of this well known world are well done. The story keeps toy turning pages and as a fantasy story I'm hooked, as a love story I think it needs more to convince me of that.
