A poetry-writing 3rd son rake? Who falls for the good girl? Yes, please! This was my first Eva Leigh, but definitely won’t be my last.

Don't you just love when a rake tries to use a good girl for his own means and then finds the tables are turned? If so you'll love this story. Captivating from beginning to end, the adventures they share together are fun, naughty and humorous.

With her families rise from poverty to wealth, Celeste is trapped into being the families reputation keeper.

But prim and proper she is not and Kiernan is shocked into seeing her for her true self. And wanting her all the more for it.

I absolutely adored Kiernan and his vulnerable side. We are never what others think us to be.

I admire the author for including queen love, abolition, Black characters not servants and emphasis on consent. It did feel at times like she was checking a box. I did struggle in the beginning to continue reading but the characters did eventually hook me.

Seeing Celeste becoming her true self when she is Salome, and discovering the dissolute London from her POV, were the best parts of the story. Kieran was too much of a spoiled dandy at first, but then he slowly revealed his poet side and became more worthy of the heroine but not enough in my opinion. [[SPOILER: I loved how he saved the day in the end, but I wish Salome would have save herself, without any help. Because she surely can!]]
Overall, I wished I would love this book more. Something was missing. The naughty parts were nice but the dirty talk sadly didn't work with me. The characters or the book didn't bring anything new to the table. While reading, I kept thinking about previous books I've read with the same kind of plot or characters.

But I'm still curious to discover Finn and Tabitha's book (this girl knows what she wants and this man is not smart enough for her). And I hope Willa will make Dom do an insane amount of groveling before getting him back!

I find historical romance so hit or miss. I enjoyed the beginning of this story, but it just got so cheesy. Funnily enough, I don't normally mind a bit of cheese, but it was a bit too mushy and saccharine.

Kieran needs to find a wife. His parents are asshats by the way, his mother only seem to care for his older brother. And now they are all find a way, you are too much of a rake! But he has taken the rake thing too far and no one gives him a second look.

Celeste is the perfect daughter, the perfect young woman. But she chafes and the constrictions of good society. Of course some of the things she ends up doing, no thanks to that.

She will help him find a wife, and help him be respectable. And he will take her to places that are not respectable.

Obvi they fall madly in love and lust. BUT, she has a suitor, a man of high standing, with a title. And Kieran is an idiot, who is all woe me, I am a third son. Oh man up Kieran, you can still get your woman.

A ps here, Celeste's brother is an idiot too. He leaves his intended at the altar cos he is all woe is me, I am not good enough for her. MEN!

A visit to the seedier and more lustfilled places in London. And a race for these two to get the chance to be together. Fun.

Good narration. Historical romance is always more fun in audio
