This book got a lot of things right, but failed to be memorable. It was definitely an enjoyable, thought provoking read though
Enjoyed the story. I felt like everything wrapped up too neatly. I saw numerous comments about ellipses in the writing. I listened to the audiobook and would recommend it given the comments.
LOVED!!!!!! This is in the running for my favorite book of 2020. The innate tension, the heartbreak, the coming of age story, the setting. I DEVOURED this book in just a few readings. All of it was *chef’s kiss*

2.5 to 3 stars. i didnt hate this but i didnt love this either, probably bc of the conversion therapy theme that i usually avoid. it wasn't easy to connect with the characters but it was sweet at times and i didn't want to put it down. that's what i get for being a cover hoe and not checking any reviews beforehand

As a queer person whose growing up experience was heavily influenced by David Bowie, it's hard to put into words what this book means to me. The writing style isn't my usual cup of tea, much more catered towards young adults, and I wish it hadn't ended so abruptly, but nevertheless, wow. Almost cried in public a few times reading this and all the sweet and powerful and just utterly amazing moments in the book overwhelmed me with emotions. Again, it's not perfect, but it was close enough to my heart to feel like it. Loved this!
