The racism, homophobia, sexism, and anti-semitism in the novel was unpalatable. I hadn’t even heard of half of those racial slurs. Even though the story came full circle, it was still very appalling at times and I didn’t enjoy it.

a solid read, I was waiting for this book for months, and it was well worth it all.

Love Karin Slaughter but this one fell flat for me.

I normally adore Slaughter’s books but found this one lacking.

First novel by Karin Slaughhter I've read, and I feel like I did when I first read Tana French: why hell did I wait so long?

I have to say, the title really bugs me. But a good read. Ending was a little too tidy, but enjoyed the book overall.

3.5? Kinda wavering on the score 'cause I did enjoy it, just not as much as her other stand-alones (or even books in series). The 70s setting was great, I loved all the female rookie cop stuff, I even loved the sexist, racist, homophobic (etc.) attitudes of the older male cops, the flavour of it. Interesting to think how close the 70s still was to WWII and Korea, Vietnam was happening so you had all these overlapping veterans with various issues.
SpoilerI was convinced Rick was gonna be the Shooter! I didn't really feel there was enough set-up for Chip?

I am very much looking forward to more stories about Kate and Maggie in throw back Atlanta!
