After a few books it just got too boring for me.

The premise was absolutely genius! And it was executed so well without plot holes or cop outs or obvious resolutions, which is rare in fantasy haha

Brilliant. This series goes from strength to strength. Nice bit of foreshadowing with the queen's comments but yet I was still shocked when everything kicked off. Great to get back story. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

That was WILD!!!!! YES YES YES!!!! Best book in the series so far! I couldn’t put it down this time!! The unfolding of that entire book was like a huge slap in the face of “oh my god I get it now!!” This book really elevated the stakes, added a LOT more depth to the characters and the plot, and really drew me into the story. In the first book, I was confused as to why Alex was apart of this whole thing and why this random girl had anything to do with all this but I completely understand now and I’m so so so happy with this book. The explanations / reveals that are given are SO essential to this story and it’s really motivated me into the next book. Although I’ve been kinda confused this whole time about the aim / reasonings, I’m kinda glad it took so long to get to all this cause it’s added a lot of new depth, connection, and anticipation to the story / characters. While so much was revealed, there was also a ton of action and things to keep me intrigued in the whole process. This was some PROPER Lynette Noni writing and I’m HERE FOR IT!!!!!!

So gutted that I can’t read the next instalment right now. Halfway through I THOUGHT I knew what was happening (I was correct in my suspicions regarding a certain rampaging lunatic) however I was wrong. So wrong. So ridiculously wrong I am mentally slapping myself.

This did however have its drawbacks. Firstly, some of the interactions seemed a little strained, mainly those between two characters who already had a story. Secondly, parts of it involving minor characters were thoroughly predictable (mainly looking at you Niida). Thirdly, the romance portion was a little... Odd (not saying I don’t like a good one sided love affair but the fact it went that way felt a little unwarranted).

Overall, what I would regard as the best instalment to date. Bring on Graevale on the 1st (although I’m still devastated I had to work instead of getting it a week early and signed)

For a book that gives us a lot of background insight. I still couldn't put it down! More action would have been great but overall, still amazing

RE-READ

Well things have certainly stepped up a notch. I had forgotten a lot of the epic stuff that happens in this one and it was fun to experience it all again as if for the first time.
