I really fucking hate rich entitled men. They are the scariest creature on earth and should go extinct

I liked the whole concept of this novel. An Irish Isle for a wedding and it's more of a mystery than a thriller. I liked the setting and the idea more than the actual story. It was just sort of meh to me.

Easy read. Nice unexpected ending! Very good thriller.

I would say this is a 3.8. It was entertaining, got me hooked, and was really good at building the suspense and keeping me guessing. But I feel like some chapters were unnecessary, the plot while a bit predictable was also a bit unlikely (just one part of it that I will not talk about because of spoilers). Overall it was pretty good and it reminded me of "And then there were none" in a sense. Would recommend it but not as a "masterpiece", just as a good book to keep yourself entertained for a few hours!

I wanted to like this, I really did. After reading The Hunting Party (5 stars, LOVED it) I was suddenly in the mood for a psychological thriller with an immense atmosphere (Al la book mentioned above...) and what else to turn to other than the next book by Lucy Foley?? Well...I have problems. A lot of them. But let's focus on the main two....
Problem 1- the narrative is set up to be different POVs, which is fine usually (not everyone's cup of tea but I like it) except...even at page 50 I'm confused and have to keep flicking back to the chapter header to find out who's POV it is because they ALL SOUND THE SAME. Honestly, if I'm questioning if it's the bride or the best man, as their tones are the same, there's a problem there..
Problem 2 - the clichés.. oh mah lawd the clichés!! We have everything here, the #girl boss, the handsome hunk who is shadowy (I wish I knew how to do that in italics), the goth-ish teen with pearl pale skin and black hair who serves as the emotional buffer, the (english version of) frat boys, the loving, caring wife who cares too much...etc etc et al. And then you have...dun...dun...DUUNN... the sinister twist, which I won't spoil but it did nothing for me except make me roll my eyes. Maybe I'm too jaded but who knows! All I know is I wish I'd just re-read The Hunting party, and despite this experience, I will read The Paris Apartment soon as the author has shown me what she can do, just not with this one
