I basically inhaled this book and had great fun! Loved the witty banter among the characters, loved the fact that there is a plot and some development, and though it is veeery unlikely that something like this would have happened, at least it's not utterly implausible!

You know how I know Sarah MacLean is special? She included a pair of identical twins in this book and didn't do any of the boring identical twin identity switching shenanigans that literally all authors do. (The twin's love story is next, I can't wait, I liked him better than the main dude in this one.)

I am in an abusive relatioship with Sarah McLean books. I despise them, but I cannot stop reading. And I'm thoroughly miserable when I do so, but I cannot seem to stop. Anyway this book was baaadddd.
It's funny that Callie had like excellent arguments why she should not date her love interest
-she cannot "change" someone.
-her fantasy she created of him was not real
-he did not love her and never would.
-he only used her.
All excellent arguments. Something that women in real life could also use. It was all shaping up to be a story you could learn from. But at the end, they ignore it all and are happy ever after??? Like I'm for real. She had all this valid arguments and she just ignores them??? And Ralston suddenly loves her? Ok.
Anyway I loved the ending. Not the love professions only the duel.

I read and absolutely adored one of Sarah Maclean's books years ago and ever since I've wanted to read more from her. Well now I have and I was not disappointed. This was such a great romance and I would very highly recommend it if that's your cup of tea.
Other than the leading man being a bit of a jackass and the spicy bits having an awkward power imbalance, this is a cleverly constructed romance novel with wit, charm, and an appealing heroine. Shows much of the promise that comes to fruition in her later works. And I am a total sucker for any book based on a list. Recommended for historical romance fans.

Tengo mis más y mis menos con este libro. A ver, empecemos.

A fun little romance. I alternated between loving the main character and being irritated at her for having such poor self-esteem, and I started to pick up on the author's repetition in some of Callie's interactions with Ralston (not even the steamy scenes either), but overall I liked the story and it was just a fun read. I listened to the audio book and the narrator was quite good.
This was a very enjoyable read and I loved both the main characters.
While I loved that Callie was able to do everything on her list, I still find that her list was a little unrealistic. Nevertheless, I chose to enjoy the story for what it was. The characters were well-written and while some of the scenes were a little cliche, I still loved reading them - which is weird because I usually don't enjoy that kind of stuff.
The cheese factor was high in some instances, but I chose to ignore it seeing as this is a romance novel lol
The secondary characters made the book even more entertaining. I especially loved Nick and Benedick. I loved how Callie could always rely on Benedick and he was a very understanding brother considering the things he knew about his sister's adventures.
I am very excited to read Nick's book! And I'm hoping we'll get Benedick's book in the future.
