This was a book i wasn’t expecting to have so much fun with. I haven’t read a book like this in a long time where I’m so invested in the characters and their story. So much so that i will be reading them all one after the other which is rare for me in book series but i just want to know where this is all going and what is going to happen to these characters I’ve got to know in this first book. Great writing, world building and action which felt so visual in my head.

While chock full of tropes that I typically do not care for, it was executed so well that I really enjoyed this book, on top of the cool and unique idea for the story, even with its predictability

Boring in a way that it gave me a reading slump. I didn’t enjoy but don’t hate the premise. I’m sure others may enjoy.

Oh my God, Skedi annoyed me so much - and his character development from "I would do anything to have people worship me" to
"Being loved by Inara is enough, she's all I'll ever need"
was very half-assed.
I wish we would have just stayed with Yatho and Telle. I didn't understand the reason for Elos journey until way too late and was therefore very bored for most of his PoV's, and the love story
between him and Kyssen
was just odd and unnecessary.
The 2.75 stars are mainly for poor Inara, the lesbians and the cliffhanger that did kind of make me want to read the second part, even though this was far from my favourite book I've ever read.
