An incredible and fresh fantasy book. The world is very fleshed out and feels so original. The characters are varied, complex and lovable. There’s multiple perspectives and every single one feels well established and distinct.

The opening chapter of this book was so good and I’m glad I made it to the end because that was fab too! But the 80% in the middle really dragged and I considered abandoning it a few times. I found the different povs had to enjoy because it felt like all the characters had the same voice? I’ve never read a book with multiple povs that feel hardly different from one another. The concept of the book was good but I couldn’t get on board with the pacing or writing style. Just surprisingly not for me!
