A beautiful story about love, loss, and loneliness. More than just a love story though, this book is also a murder mystery. I liked the romance and the reveals. I liked how the author used nature and poetry to express the thoughts of the main character. I especially liked that although Kya is the main character, the other characters’ thoughts, stories, and actions were also described. The story was crafted very well and wonderfully written. I was enamored by it and I feel that it came to a fitting conclusion. Great read!

Keep reading if you’re stuck - it’s worth it. The beginning is slow but once you get through it it’s an amazing book! I recommend it constantly! And can’t wait to see the movie when it’s out.

“Female fireflies draw in strange males with dishonest signals and eat them; mantis females devour their own mates. Female insects, Kya thought, know how to deal with their lovers.”
