For me this wasn't scary in the slightest, even reading it at night with the lights off didn't scare me, it just made me tired.

Don't have much else to say about it just that it was very descriptive and I love Spider.

This was ok but I wouldn't recommend. It didn't stand out enough. Most of the book is misly dull except that last like... chapter? Meh.

a great gothic horror book for sure. poor guy :(

This story did very little for me. I liked some of the people and places, but generally thought it was too slow and boring as a ghost story.

Este foi uma daquelas situações em que devia ter lido o livro antes de ver o filme. Sinto que depois de ter visto o filme, o livro me pareceu demasiado leve.. Apesar de tudo proporcionou-me umas boas horas de leitura.

Love the narration by paapa Essiedu but overall the story was pretty weak.

Like the Woman in Black, Ralph Cosham seems to be following me around; this is the third book I've listened to that has featured his narration in the past five months.

My first encounter with the Woman in Black was in the early nineties when I saw the 1989 British television version starring a very young Adrian Rawlins. It scared the stuffing out of me. Earlier this year, I went to see the Hammer film version starring Adrian Rawlin's movie son Daniel Radcliffe. (Rawlins and Radcliffe played James and Harry Potter in the HP films.) I watched the movie through my fleece top and tried to climb into my popcorn bag, neither being quite possible.

I received this audio version of the original book by Susan Hill for my birthday and was careful to only listen in the kitchen during daylight hours. Although written in 1983, it has a very old-fashioned feel to it and is creepy without being traumatizing.

I think all three versions can be enjoyed separately or together. The 1989 version (readily available on YouTube, of course) is a little more faithful to the book, but has enough differences to be enjoyed on its own. Younger viewers should be warned that it has a slower pace which someone with a shorter attention span might find a detraction. The 2012 movie is pretty well a whole other story, but sticks to the spirit of the original, if you'll pardon the expression.
