I had great expectations about Moon's book and Laurann Dohner didn't disappoint me.
At the beginning of the book Moon is feral due to the drug that he was injected in the previous book of the series. Dr. Joyce Yards, his former psychologist, is called in to help him and she immediately agrees since she fell in love with him when she last treated him. I liked Joy's determination to bring Moon back to sanity, their sessions both in the past and in the present were a real treat to read. I liked how the relationship progressed in Moon's moments of clarity, too. The story just flowed effortlessly, there wasn't anything that seemed illogical or out of place or irritated me. Another win in the New Species series.

Just didn't like this one as much as the rest of the books. Moon didn't do it for me.
When 466 was rescued from Mercile, he was one of many patients receiving therapy by Dr. Joyce Yards to help with acclimating into a new world. From day one 466 was attracted to Joy, he made no bones about keeping quiet with all the sensual things he would like to do with her, while Joy kept a professional stance until it became too hard to resist. Quitting was the only option.
Moon has been injected with some new drug that no one seems to be able to figure out, he is feral. As a last ditch effort they bring in Joy hoping she will have some insight on how to treat him. Joy can’t believe she is finally seeing 466/Moon again after two years of regrets. She loves him, but Moon is not quite so forgiving he remembers tidbits about her especially how she walked out on him. Joy will do whatever she can to help him heal, even if it means sleeping with him, her only wish is when this is all over he won’t cast her out.

While not being my favorite in the series I still enjoyed this a lot.
I was looking forward to moons story so much because we got to know him through most of the former books and he has always been one of my favorite characters.
However after reading book 9 I knew that Moon won’t be his usual self in his own book and that made me disappointed and I feared to not like the book in the end.
I am so glad this was not the case. While I do love the moon we got to know through out the other books I really liked what the story in this book did with him.
We got to discover about his past and that gave him even more personality and made me love him even more.
As for Joy, the heroine of the story, I liked her a lot too. She was a very reasonable person, that mostly seemed very well aware of the situations she was in and her own feelings. Her only weakness being Moon and he is the only we see her starting to be unreasonable. Her behavior really was stupid sometimes but I like that she at least did admit to it.
Besides the main characters I loved seeing all my beloved new species again. I love so many of them and wish all had their own book. The one highest on the list for me personally is Harley. I am a huge fan of this guy and hope SO much that Laurann Dohner will write him his own story too.
As for the story it was great and again very different to the former books which I absolutely enjoy. It was not the most thrilling books of the series but it was a great story anyway.
Overall I just want to say I love it.
