An utterly charming tale about a woman hoping to marry a rich man to save her sisters from their late father’s debt. I was enraptured throughout the whole book; the author’s writing is so delectable and made me laugh out loud. If you like a slow burn romance where both characters begin understand themselves better and start changing their ways to help their families, you will love this book.

I’m very meh about this one. I thought the premise was cute, but I found Kitty to be unlikeable and the romance between her and Radcliffe didn’t build in a meaningful way until the last 50 pages of the book. I would have loved to see more meetings between the two of them turning slowly into a romance. Instead it all felt a little cartoonish, especially the rescue missions (plural!!) that happened.
Radcliffe was also a very 2D character; we know he has trauma from the war, but we don’t really know a lot about him (or Kitty for that matter).
Cecily could’ve been a fun character but she was treated as less than a supporting character in this book.
And Archie? Oh boy. Bless his heart

This novel follows Kitty, a young woman who needs to marry rich because her family are in debt. Kitty takes her sister to London and does her best to integrate them into the high society life. She finds an eligible bachelor worthy of marrying along the way, but Kitty's biggest obstacle turns out to be the bachelor's older brother, Lord Radcliffe, who can see right through her plan and knows that she's just using his family for money.

The main focal point of this book is on London high society, and it gets into all the details as Kitty tries to work her way up the ladder. The story is really detail oriented, and well written.

I find myself having mixed feelings about this book. I actually loved the world building and attention to detail regarding the setting and background of each and every character. This book is a proper slow burn, with a touch of rivalry that made for a fun read between Kitty and Lord Radcliffe.

However, I think my disappointment mainly comes from the marketing because it gave me higher expectations for a romance novel when really this book reads as a historical fiction story with a romance sub plot. Another thing that I wasn't a fan of was that some of the scenes just felt a bit repetitive over time. Although, I absolutely adored Kitty's character! She was so much fun to read and I loved that she came across as a bit of a villain in this work.

Personally, I would recommend this book but I don't think it's a novel that everyone might enjoy. I think if you are a fan of historical fiction, regency periods, pride and prejudice (book or movies), and slow burn romances then you might like this story!

A slow burn, wholesome romance where everyone really does care about each other. I found myself laughing, cringing and deeply attached to the characters throughout the book. I'm always pleased when a regency romance manages to keep me fully engaged all the way through.

Kitty's experience entering London ball rooms and being introduced to the ton reminded me of being the new kid at school. All the cliques and unspoken expectations that can have massive consequences that have to be figured out. When Kitty was approaching Lady Burrows, I was chanting "Don't do it!" in my head.

4 Stars. This is a quirky, light read. I was giggling through most of it and could hardly put it down. Kitty was clever and cunning, though Irwin was also able to show her emotional side. Making Kitty an overall very compelling female lead. I thought that the author did a good job showing the nature of the upper class, how they spread gossip and how status meant everything. At times I felt that the burden Kitty felt was re-iterated too often, it began to lose its compelling nature. I liked how fluid the narrative was, mostly the book was in the POV of Kitty, however Radcliffe had his moments, as did a few other characters. I found this to be an easy, sweet read which I think I could easily read again.
