2 stars. I don’t think I’m going to continue on with this series. There’s something about the way the author’s characters are written that I don’t like. The side characters are great but the main characters leave a lot to be desired.
I didn’t like Lily nor Xander. They both got on my nerves. I’m not a fan of characters being vulnerable with their hearts only to keep getting shot down over and over and over again by the same person. And that’s exactly how it was with Lily. She was smitten by Xander even though he kept leading her on and pushing her away repeatedly. That’s not enduring to me. It’s pathetic and it made me super embarrassed for her. Xander was a coward plain and simple. I understood his reasoning for being so done with love but he definitely could’ve handled things better with Lily. The romance was extremely lacking and the ending was unbelievably rushed and forced. I’ll try a different book by this author that is not in this series because I do like her writing but these characters just aren’t doing it for me.
