I, okay. There were parts that were suspenseful and had me on the edge of my seat. I might have liked this a bit more in high school. But. I have lots of issues. The characters were NOT realistic. Dead bodies everywhere, and they’re, what, making out one room away?? A teenager was found burned alive in the nearby school and their parents let them go ANYWHERE? At the end, after they’re the only ones left, Meg and TJ are like. Oh yeah, this was bad but at least it brought us together. Girl, you SHOT HIM. And the epipen bit was also unrealistic.

This made me laugh. Fun, quick read that made me want to reread [b:Chain Letter|137971|Chain Letter (Chain Letter #1)|Christopher Pike|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1349055051s/137971.jpg|1392048], which is a way, way better terrible book.

I was really looking forward to this book because I have heard Gretchen McNeil praised as a good horror writer. But Ten was underwhelming, at best.

Most of the book read like a silly teen "scary" movie but the last fourth of the book was... exciting enough. It did give me the run around, trying to figure out who the killer was--that kept things somewhat interesting. The mystery of it was what saved the book for me from giving it less than three stars.

I never really connected with any of the characters--it felt like most of them were merely there to die so there was no use to give any of them any sort of personality, for reader to care about their deaths, besides the most shallow. As for the main character, Meg, she was more developed than the others but only just. I couldn't have cared less if the killer got to her. Meg had a romance going on with one of the boys but I never really felt any spark between them.

I read this book fairly quickly but only because it was one of those easy, mindless reads and not necessarily because I was really invested in the characters or even finding out who the killer was.
