I’m classing as a “modern-day And Then There Were None (ATTWN) retelling, because that’s basically what it was. There were ten, of course in both books. They were all invited to a secluded little island, and they all had done something “bad” in their pasts and the killer was deranged and decided to take it upon himself to bring justice on to them.

I definitely did think it was Minnie, but I should’ve known it wasn’t her because in ATTWN, we think the judge is dead, but it turns out to be him the entire time. Although, I did kind of suspect Ben.

Now, of course, in ATTWN they all end up dead, because the judge ends up killing himself at the end of the book, too. If you’ve seen the BBC ATTWN TV adaptation, Philip Lombard and Vera Claythorn run away together, but they all die in the book.

The murderer: Claire Hicks’s brother, Tom, who killed the real Ben and took his place.

In this book, the only ones left are (obviously) Meg and T.J.
Kumiko was electrocuted.
Gunner was shot.
Nathan, Kenny, Vivian, Lori, and Minnie were murdered by Ben (Tom) as well.
Jessica and her friends were invited to another party by Tom; Tom hacked into her Facebook and sent the invites.

This wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read, but it wasn’t the worst. The writing definitely could’ve been a little better, and I personally think that it would’ve been better if it had been written in first person instead of third. I kept getting confused by all the “shes’” and at the beginning kept getting Meg and Minnie confused, but all in all, it was a pretty good book and I enjoyed my time reading it.

I loved this, so much. I loved how it was set up to lead you in different directions, and then it just sort of pulled the rug out from under you in a flash. I thought I had it figured out a couple of times, but then a huge twist happened. So good, and very well written! I just wish there was a little more closure at the end.

I have actually read Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, and that's why I was excited to read Ten. Unfortunately, this book did not live up to And Then There Were None.

First, the beginning is pretty rough to get through, so I wasn't hooked until I was about halfway into the book.

Second, this book suffered from the same problem that There's Someone Inside Your House did—namely, trying to establish a romantic relationship while people are getting murdered left and right. It just doesn't work.
SpoilerI mean, did Meg and T.J. really have to make out in the house where four different people were murdered?

Third, I think the story would have worked better if they all the teenagers in the story were total strangers (like in And Then There Were None) because the characters don't act sad at all when their friends are dying all over the place.

Fourth, this wasn't as meticulous as And Then There Were None—there seemed to be some minor plot holes.
SpoilerFor instance, I don't understand how Tom shot Gunner, what the timeline of Tom replacing Ben looked like (e.g. only slightly before the island? How did no one realize he wasn't Jessica's real boyfriend?); or how Tom managed to make it look like he died (e.g. to make it look like he didn't have a pulse).

In conclusion, it was an enjoyable enough read, but lacked the genius of And Then There Were None.

100x better than “And Then There Were None”

Super hard to get through. The plot is good and has been done amazingly but I feel like this just falls short. It was enough I could get through it but there are moments you stop and think really!? Just a meh read.

I tried to separate this book from Agatha Christie's because I mean Agatha Christie! I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read the original.  I liked that the teens weren't dumbed down. It was an enjoyable, fast paced read.

2.5 stars
All that drama was a bit too much for me. I expected something more from the characters especially the female lead but all I got was a lovesick teen, an annoying delusional drama-queen bestfriend, a dull, witless love interest and a bunch of other flat, obtuse add-on characters. I rarely gave less than a 3 star rating but this was really a meh.

Well, this was disappointing.
I love mysteries and having read a lot of books by the Queen of Mysteries, Miss Agatha Christie's, I just couldn't help but find this unimaginative and full of common places and stereotypes.
Really though,
Spoiler"all of my friend are dead but oh, in the end I ended up with the love of my life so that's great"
What? You don't just see a bunch of people die and then 3 hours later are happy and content because of your love life... Nope.
I really wanted to enjoy this book since three of my tumblr/goodreads friends loved it.
I, unfortunately, did not.
