A great, thrilling read with a rapid fire pace. I really wanted more from this novel. My main gripe is that I’m not sure this book was confident about what it wanted to be. It’s not a real mystery, but there are so many elements of that genre that take away from its thriller billing - and when Cosby’s on that, the book is undeniably good.
But too much ham fisted sociopolitical commentary makes me feel like Cosby didn't really trust his audience to understand what it means to be a black sheriff, not just in the South but in the true “Old Dixie” that is rural Virginia.
I was left wanting a little bit more but always entertained.

I've taken to S.A. Cosby after reading Razorblade Tears. All The Sinners Bleed was much better written, but I felt like there were just a few too many layers to this cake. I was engaged and soaking up the things transpiring, but it felt like there had just been a little too much heaped onto this plate. While I enjoyed myself, I think some of the B, C, and D plots could have been thinned to focus more on the meat of the story. I wanted to like Titus more than I actually did.

The prose is FANTASTIC!
Descriptions rich in metaphor and a plot soaked in generational racism and horrific crime.
Seriously, this writing style would be amazing in a fantasy setting. So, so good!

Cosby gives a masterclass in character depth and dialogue. Though there were some weaknesses in the plot the characters steal the show. Facing a serial killer, a crisis in faith, on-the-job PTSD, and the seething racism of a small town in the south Titus keeps his head above water and his community and family together.
