4 hours 12 minutes - For a book with the word 'adventures' in the title, this book really really dragged. This is a contender for one of the most tedious books I've ever read. I know this book was written over a hundred years ago, but the sheer number of slurs in this book written by a white man didn't make it any easier to get through. The main reason I wanted to read this was because I like to read the source material before I read the retelling - in this context, I want to read Percival Everett's James - but honestly my experience of reading this book could persuade me to forgo this in the future.
