Auggie is starting college but he’s reckless and more concerned with maintaining his internet fame than classwork. Theo’s just lost his husband and daughter in a car crash and he’s just trying to survive every day. One drunken night, Auggie is on a joyride with someone and almost hits Theo with the car. Now there’s a video of the incident on Instagram, and that guy who was with Auggie is missing.

This was more great writing from Gregory Ashe, of course. Theo and Auggie are both very likable flawed and broken characters, easy to root for but it also deals with some heavy grief themes. Gregory Ashe sets up another series with a crime solving dynamic duo. I really love Auggie, which surprised me because I don't typically care for the social media influencer characters. Theo is a little less likable but mostly because he's in a very dark place emotionally in this book. The mystery is slowly woven in and I really enjoyed the set up. It also delivered another gut punch of angst as these two end the book as just friends. I recently finished the Lion and the Lamb series by G.A. and I’m a little annoyed this seems to already be following the same pattern as we enter into book 2. So we will see how this goes.
