The title short story was a 5-star read! The other two were good romps, but not as lyrical or tight. Overall a high 4 starts

The title novella is a beautiful, understated, elegiac piece of work. The latter two stories are entertaining, but altogether more workmanlike and forgettable.

didn't quite have time to finish this one before I had to give it back. The writing was gorgeous, the magic of the prose alluring but the plot wasn't anything that really grabbed me. Would love to read more by author though

A beautiful book about family, men, their relationships, and fly fishing.

I enjoyed this one. The way Maclean explores the sibling dynamic between brothers was completely relatable. His writing is beautiful as well, and I enjoyed his descriptions of people, places, and situations. He made me want to go fishing.

A lovely, sad, semi-autobiographical tale about family, opportunities taken and missed, life and, yes, fishing.
