It was lackluster and almost had the potential to be better but the ladder half of the book was not fleshed out properly imo. The character, Grace was lovely —- matt … well…
I believe that if I was in highschool though, this book would have been more enjoyable!

Meh. This was a highly rated book with an interesting concept that fell completely flat for me. Disclaimer: I'm not a romance reader, but I do try to expand my horizons. I thought a "love, hate, love story" was intriguing. Finding love, losing it, and to be found once again is really fucking romantic. Alas, I can NOT get over the cringe factor these romance books bring. I love a good romance in other book settings[the light between oceans, at the waters edge, etc].

This book is about two college students who fall madly in love with every cliché you can imagine
•Grace is a virgin and hopes that Matt will still want her even if she isn't good in bed.🙄
•The two lovers deny they are in love for an agonizingly long time
•cheesy date ideas and an abundance of cringy dialogue
•both have to separate after college, destined to never speak again

Then they don't speak to each other or reach out until they pass by each other by chance 15 years later. Then a shitstorm of unreasonable, unrealistic, fucked up shit ensues.

Even after an incredibly unbelievable twist is revealed, it still is agonizingly prolonged for them to just admit their feelings and get the fuck back together.

The cringe made this a 1 star read for me when it could have possibly been a 2 star read.🤷‍♀️

This was 5 stars for me with I rarely give. I loved these main characters so much and was so invested in them, what happened to them, what would become of them. There were twists that I only loosely suspected and it pulled at me emotionally in ways I really didn’t expect. I was in it for a fun little breezy read after a reading dud and this book over delivered. Readers should know there are 3-4 explicit scenes. Normally this many in a short book takes my star reviews down because it feels like the author is relying on racy scenes to carry the plot. I did not feel this way in this book and just skipped over them because that’s my preference. There was some adult language but I didn’t find it overkill aside from one very obnoxious and largely unlikeable side character.
