Parts of this had that classic Junji Ito disturbing quality to it. Other parts seemed unintentionally hilarious and I don't know if it was me or the translation or a combination of both. The majority of this collection didn't quite hit the "blech" factor of Uzumaki, but it was a fun and entertaining read. I actually enjoyed the short stories, The Mansion of Phantom Pain, and The Rib Woman, the most out of everything. And I enjoyed whatever the hell Memories of Real Poop was. Pick up if you're a Junji Ito fan, but it's not the best one to start off with.
fantastic as always but the kicker of this collection is the last story "memories of real poop" which is why this book should be read imo

The first story, Livesickness, was very very interesting, but I found the ending very lack lustre:/ the other stories were mediocre
The title story is worth the price of admission alone: it’s about half the book’s length and one of Ito’s all-time best. Out of the five remaining stories that make up the rest of the book, two are total duds, and the rest are wonderful.
80% of an excellent collection is still excellent. Add another star if you’re real in for Ito’s strange sense of humor (which I personally will sometimes chafe at). A wonderful book to have on your shelf if you’re a fan, only eclipsed by his longform work in Uzumaki a s Gyo.
