Hazelwood always hits. I bought this book not knowing it was young adult. Even though the front of the book literally says YA debut. Though I never read YA romance, Hazelwood's signature progressive and cheeky style shines through. And I learned things about chess and women in chess specifically. Learning is always a bonus for me!

The FMC is literally the worst? Like no one asked her to do all those sacrifices. But she acts like as if she’s the only one going through problems? Either way this was not one of my favorite books by Ali, there was barely any romance in it too
