I usually love lucy's stuff so I'm disappointed that this one fell so flat for me. I honestly just... it wasn't for me.
this poor girl just got out of an abusive relationship and I feel like everything conveniently panned out but it felt so unrealistic. it's so weird commenting on anyone's healing process or timeline, even in the fictional case, but I think both characters felt like they were ready to play house instead of giving themselves a chance to process on their own?
healing aside I just had no feelings towards anyone except harper and luke. I wish I liked it more

I knew I'd like Aldo and Gloria's story, but I didn't realise just how much. I think I love it, just as much as Luke and Harper's story.
Reading Gloria's growth through the book from her point of view was beautiful. The way she wasn't sure of herself, feeling like she was unworthy of being loved, related. Aldo's story and reading how he handled everything after what happened to him was heart breaking.
Lucy tackled the war and DV situations well and with grace. Beautifully written 👏🏼
