3.5 stars rounded to 4. This is the same as book one just Gloria’s/Aldo’s POV. I would’ve appreciated it more had I not read them back to back. I’ll read a book or 2 before reading #3.

Thank you Net Galley & to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I think I would have enjoyed it a little bit more if I did not read book 2 immediately after the first. If you are planning to read them back to back, just know that a lot of the book repeats itself as it bridges into Gloria and Aldo’s story. I felt like at least 40% of the book was verbatim of book 1 - BUT, if I was reading this with a lot of time in between, I would have been so thankful for the repeat details. I actually wished the Knockemout series had given a bit more repeat details as I read them more spaced apart. A beautiful story about someone navigating vulnerability, fear, bravery and coming into themselves after an abusive relationship. There was also a lot of vulnerability showed on the after effects of war. I liked this series. I don’t plan to read the third because I don’t care that much about linc’s story but I enjoyed the first two. 3.5 rounded up. It would be a true 4 if it were not for all the repetition of book 1 but still a very beautiful story.

This one did not do it for me AT ALL. One, having read the first book, this was just another perspective of the events I already knew of— for a book of over 400 pages, that is a bit boring and repetitive. I also just felt like all the characters irritated me— they were immature, flip-floppy, and flakey. They either were perfect or broken. No one had any nuance. I have enjoyed some of Lucy Score’s other books, but this one was just a tough read to get through.
