I read a lot of reviews from readers who said they found this book boring and repetitive BUT I really enjoyed it. Yes the story takes place at the same time as the first but I enjoyed the character development and LOVED the cheesy ending.

An emotional read but a good one. I loved Gloria as a character and enjoyed reading her journey of healing and survival. I also liked Aldo as a character but overall I felt the book was slightly too long and rehashed too many scenes that were already in Pretend You’re Mine. I expected a lot of overlap because I knew this was a companion novel but it would literally feature the same scene but from Aldo or Gloria’s perspective but it never really added anything to it so a few times it felt repetitive. Because of how long it was, I felt this affected the pacing, it felt dragged out and then it was chapter 70 (like 90% in) when everything was hunky dory and THEN they decided to put another conflict in and they broke up for like 2 days? I wasn’t in to that at all but last minute break ups followed by a grovel and a quick reconciliation seem to be a trademark for Lucy Score. I just also need to say that the sex scenes once again were not great to me, they’re not bad at all but they do just always come across as very porn-y and there is never really any meaningful foreplay which I think hinders the emotional significance that the sex scenes are often supposed to have, especially in this story.

3.25 Stars.
I didn't totally hate this book but I couldn't help but feel as though Score had writer's block when she was writing this book. It felt recycled and as though she couldn't be bothered to think of something new. The whole story was just the same story from book 1 but from a different couple's point of view which was okay in the beginning but it quickly felt repetitive and as though I knew where the hell this was going.
As for the characters, whilst I did like the thought that Score covered themes of domestic abuse and violence it felt very stereotypical and shallow. I didn't feel as though it really represented something that is a real reality for a lot of people around the world and I don't think this book did it justice. I also liked the thought of the liability storyline however once again it felt half-hearted and Aldo's excuse for why he couldn't do things was so shallow.
I'm really hoping that the third book in the series is better than these other two but I'll be honest, I am not hopeful. This series is just not hitting as hard as Knockemount and I know Score can do better than this.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, way more than I did the first one seing as I rated Pretend You’re Mine ⭐️⭐️.. I loved Aldo and Gloria together, their relationship had just the right amount of burn. The reason it’s four stars for me was Gloria freaking out about baggage, I felt like they had worked through so much that wasn’t really needed, but mainly the fact that the epilogue was THE ENDING of the first book again with the super cringy karaoke scene where Harper forgives Luke instantly.. ugh. I didn’t need to be reminded of that scene again.

The final I've read of the three in the series and I loved it as much as the others 🥰 I loved seeing Gloria reclaim her independence after getting out of an abusive relationship, and helping Aldo overcome his difficulties post IED injury. A heartwarming story with some great characters!
