The Mighty Storm's bassist FINALLY meets his match! I didn't read the blurb for this book and I'm glad it's about Tom Carter. He's sexy, hot, crass, wild and hilarious. In the band, he's the joker and the chick magnet. He's a freaking hot mess and he's not interested in settling down. After one incident, he vows to God he'll be a better man and diminish his wild side. That doesn't mean he's going to settle down but he was attracted to Lyla Summers, the Vintage's lead vocalist.
Lyla has an awful experience in relationships. Especially when the person she trusted the most betrayed her. Since then, she despise men and just like Tom, she's not ready to have a relationship. When she found out Tom filled in the position as their band manager temporarily, she thought it's a bad idea. They'll be together for weeks for the band tour. Tom sees Lyla as his challenge because she's the only woman who isn't swayed by his charms. Later on, they hooked up and as Lyla starts falling for him, he begins to hold back due to his secrets.
These two have an amazing chemistry. I love their witty exchange of banters, the push-and-pull and blazing sexual tension between them. It's amusing, funny and romantic. Behind Tom's smiles and laughs, he has a lot of personal issues which is related to his past. I love his backstory and I didn't expect it to be brutal and dark. I only wished it's revealed a little earlier. Also, there are moments Lyla is whiny and petty. It annoyed me but she's tolerable.
Despite of my issues, it's great to see the other side of Tom. Like Jake, he's a sweet, thoughtful and protective guy. His simple gestures are so endearing. Tom is swoon-worthy in his own way. Such an intense guy. Overall, I enjoyed Tom and Lyla's story and I'm satisfied by its ending.

Yes, unfortunately I'm not gonna give this book more stars. I wanted to love it like I did Jake & Tru, but I just couldn't. I didn't feel the love between Tom & Lyla like I did Jake & Tru (Comparing again, ugh I know, can't help it!). I found myself rolling my eyes sometimes and I couldn't help thinking that it's missing something...that unexplained but essential spark I felt when reading TMS and WTS. Yes, that's it, I guess.
I loved the boys in this book though! Cale, Sonny, Van and eventually Dex too. They were Lyla's band mates and best friends. Dex was her brother who betrayed her badly in the beginning of this book. I'm glad they sorted it out eventually. It's funny, throughout the book I had the feeling that Cale might have feelings for Lyla, more than friendly feelings, obviously. I was kind of expecting some action from Cale in the end, but it's totally fine. Anyway, is it kinda wrong that I got overly excited to get more Jake in the last chapter when I should have been excited about how things end up for Tom & Lyla?? Yeeeeah, I think it's a little wrong...It sort of feels like cheating my current boyfriend with my ex, haha.
The sad truth is that Tom didn't make it to my top 5 book boyfriends list, unlike Jake, who I fell in love with immediately. Before I started the book I was even like 95% certain Tom could even kick Jake's ass!
Anyway, now a girl can only hope there will be Cale, Sonny and Van's books!! :) At least Cale's, I adored him :)

4.5* I'd completely forgotten how much I loved Tom and his wicked mouth, it was great to see him go from being, well, a bit of a tosser to someone you could really feel for. Lyla was perfect for him, she gave as good as she got and though their relationship was fraught with misunderstandings and tantrums it felt real. I'd love to read some more about TMS and their shenanigans <3

I adored gettingTom's story. (More so since book 2 seemed like fluff to me so I'm glad she redeemed the series) This was a great rock star romance but a little atypical since both Tom and Lyla are rockers. I always love it when the "Mutts" get tamed. Favorite quote time-
"I would rather have a moment of everything with you than a lifetime of nothing."

I laughed. I cried. I swooned. I had a FEW hot flashes. Tom, oh my Tom. You are just fabulous and I wish you were real. I need to hug you. You have had a horrible, and very sad past, but you deserve to be happy.
This was very bittersweet. I don't want this series to end. I love reading about rockers. They live a lifestyle that I can't even imagine. But I like seeing a glimpse.

Good book. I liked Tom a lot. Lyla, I could take or leave her. There were some aspects of her I liked, and others that were so annoying I wanted to choke her.
I'd love to read a book by this author with some more grown up characters. Her writing is great, I think I just have a little bit of a hard time relating to some of the immaturity.
I will add that I think I should have done a reread, or a skim through of The Mighty Storm and Wethering the Storm, to catch up since it's been a while, and there's another rocker series that's very similar to this one, so I kept getting my storylines confused.

DNF at 3%.
DO NOT USE MINORITIES OR MARGINALIZED PEOPLE AS FODDER FOR YOUR BOOKS!
In just the first 3%, the h called herself "asexual" due to having been cheated on before, by multiple partners. No, that is not what being asexual is. It's not a temporary, I done been cheated on "fix" for not dating. It is the core being of who someone is.
It's something very real, very different and you DO NOT GET TO BELITTLE THEM LIKE THIS!
This author lost me forever as a reader. I don't normally hold grudges, but when I do...
