Somehow does not manage to pass the Bechdel test despite being 600 pages long. Continues the rotating narrator format used in Wool to mixed results. The first narrator, Donald, is ultimately the most interesting and his chapters end up doing the heavy lifting for the narrative as well as providing the only well-defined supporting characters.

I kept reading this volume thinking that the story would wrap up at the end so it felt like it was dragging -- "Resolve the story, dammit!" and then the last page... CLIFFHANGER! So, I guess there's another volume.

Not as great as book one, but starts to fill in some of the "how and why" questions. This doesn't feel like a continuation in the beginning as it starts in a different time period with different people, but if you stick with it , it ends well.
