I didn't like the "flow" of this book, as it's different than others in the Wimpy Kid series. This one's timeline all runs together with one story, versus past volumes where there were numerous mini stories. The result is the narrative feeling like it runs on and on. There were funny moments, like Manny + the pig. The lack of Rowley also impacted my review.

I know at forty-mumble years old, I'm not exactly target audience for this book. This was the first of the series I'd read; I read it for work. It was great. Lots of laugh-out-loud moments that I can just imagine being hilarious when it's inevitably made into a movie. Very very funny. I can see why kids are really enjoying this franchise.

I've never been on a road trip or a family road trip but damn this is making me stress when I read it. In this book the family got a new pet pig because they went on a road trip that led into a country fair that has a competition which one has to guess the weight of something, then manny wins and he got a baby pig for a gift.

Pretty cute - who hasn't been on a crazy family vacation?

How is one family THIS unlucky?

The unexpected is a great source of comedy. In this book, the unexpected happens over and over again, triggering comedy of laugh-out-loud proportions repeatedly. I could write a whole lot of sentences of the form “Remember when [character] did [humorous event]? Ha ha ha!” and it would be a really accurate picture of what I get from this book.

Actually there’s more than that, because it’s hard sometimes to remember how middle-school kids actually think. At that age, there’s not that firm link between cause and expected effect that adults are afflicted or blessed with, and the main character of this book is very much without that link. Also, he thinks about himself so much, in a way that I personally haven’t been able to for years and years. It’s refreshing to read this book and experience that style of thinking and that absence of predicting effects accurately.

Plus, I can share moments with my son who loves these books: “Remember when [character] did [humorous event]? Ha ha ha!”

A weak link in the DoaWK cannon. In the latest installment of the series, the wimpy kid passively observes his family's foibles on their road trip. Sure, it's as fraught with hi-jinx as a National Lampoon's movie, but Greg is best when in the middle of his own anti-hero antics and this title forgot that. Also, I missed Rowley. And the Roderick of #2. This Roderick story wasn't nearly as interesting.

The second half picks up a bit. Most fans will enjoy this book anyway.

This is the funniest book I have read in a long time!
I would definitely recommend this book for people who are ten years old.
By far this is probably the greatest book in the diary of a wimpy kid series.
I will read this many times in my lifetime because it is a wonderfully funny book to read in a short time when you need a book to read in a short time.

By far this is the most hilarious book in the diary of a wimpy kid series

It was very interesting and the sarcasm and humor always gets me. I can never overcome this series and can keep on reading this series forever.
