Q loved this book. We had lots of fun with it, and I'm excited to share the rest of Judy Blume's books with him!
A tale of one boy's desperate attempt to get freckles. Funny stuff.
Review to come once my students finish the novel study.
This was really nothing special, but I do appreciate that Andrew wanted freckles. Most of the time, freckles are seen as ugly or undesirable, but not in this book. I might have gotten more out of this if I had read it with my eyes instead of as an audiobook, but I borrowed it from my library so at least I'm utilizing that.
This used to be one of my favorite books when I was younger, as well as every book in the Fudge series, and basically, I've been reading and loving Judy Blume books for as long as I can remember, and my parents have read them with me when I was little. My dad still makes references to Fudge and Freckle Juice!
In this transitional chapter book, a young boy desperately wants freckles like his classmate and another, mean-spirited classmate takes advantage of his desire, selling him a recipe for "freckle juice." This classic book has the lesson of being satisfied and happy with yourself, just as you are.
