Completely boring. Despite its flaws Yours for the Taking had interesting concepts and things actually happened in the story - cannot say the same for Shutouts.

Max's perspective on the cult abuses should have been horrifying, but the writing was so simplistic that no emotion comes across. Very little is actually happening - Camilla and Max spend all their chapters just waiting for everyone and embroiled in sexual tension. Ava, Brook, and Olympia travel the country but there's very little new info or expansion on the worldbuilding. The most engaging part is the Kelly letters, which are neat but drawn out quite a bit.

An utter waste of a sequel, 1 star, deeply disappointed

adventurous sad medium-paced

This book was all exposition/voice-over, with the narrator telling us everything instead of letting us figure literally anything out for ourselves. And it honestly felt like a checklist of white liberal talking points that were just so awkward and forced... Painful tbh, and I knew within 12 pages I couldn't get through it.
