Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. This dystopian book kept me interested, but I felt like I needed more of something.  I’m not quite sure what.  It was good, not great for me. I found myself not caring about the characters the last third.

I’m so glad that this series came into my life this year and I am dying for book 3!!

I loved diving deeper into the characters stories in this one, as well as more deeply understanding how the world got to be the way it is.

Mostly satisfying end of these stories. I wanted more from the characters we already knew from the first book and cared less about the new characters.

I also felt like this book lacked the strong point of view the first book had (the corrupting power of power) and was more just telling what comes next.

This book scratched a queer dystopian itch!  Overall, I felt it lacked some complexity despite really interesting plot points/ technology that could have been expanded on.  It did keep me interested in the character’s journeys but the writing left something lacking for me.
