Sometimes it's good to remind yourself that being a football fan isn't about results and trophies and glory, it's about people in a place, a community. The community of East Stirlingshire FC is a colourful one and Jeff Connor's season following them at the rump end of the Scottish football pyramid is a warm and funny read. There are plenty of these "Season with..." books around now, but this was a welcome reconnection following a period dipping into the murkier waters of football ownership and finance. Although it wasn't entirely rosy on that front in Falkirk either.

It's not all glamour in football, especially up in East Stirlingshire. One for fans of true football, well told by Jeff, who is good at the off-pitch shenanigans.

I read this last year but never posted it on Goodreads. It lets you know most clubs and players fight to survive!
