I remember reading the summary of this book and thinking, "This better not awaken anything in me." Having finished it now, can safely say that plan failed miserably. Loved it enough that it gave me a hangover after finishing it.

This book is about the spice, not the substance. However, it's still a really fun ride. I laughed out loud a few times.

I've never really read anything like this, and turns out stalking is not a trope for me. But if you're into it, you'll really like this book.

This was me dipping my toe into the realm of dark romance, and if this book is on the lighter side for that, maybe it’s a no from me.

The spice was good, I’ll give it that. But everything else about it was flat. I didn’t like either of the main characters; it was insta-love for both of them and that’s not a trope I enjoy.

But what even was the plot? What was the point of anything? It all felt like a way for them to just have more sex.

It really could have been good. I would have liked a more further look into Josh and his past, like actually in depth or more of a look into what basis of the psycho/sociopathic tendencies he had and where he actually leans toward (especially with the backstory we get on his father).

I would have just liked more in general from Aly. She was annoying and a little insufferable; there wasn’t much relationship building for her own self.

The cat stuff was comedic relief but not needed.

The reason it got 2 stars was because the writing wasn’t bad (although she uses some weird language sometimes - I have never seen the word “fricasseed” or “maw” used to describe something), and the spicy scenes were written well and that was probably the only parts of the book I enjoyed. But I prefer plot over spice anyways.

Probably won’t read the sequel.
