A fun light-read, a little emotional and very relatable. However, nothing too great or phenomenal
Did enjoy reading through a male pov though, learnt a few things about youth psychology

This book was utterly so boring. Save yourself some time and go watch the Hindi movie, 3 Idiots, which is immensely well-executed, intriguing, delightful, and asks the real questions.
Adapted into a film we all love, 3 Idiots, I was excited to pick this book up again for the first time after a decade (love a good re-read). I am a much stronger reader now and oh boy, that really just translates to an inability to overlook things.
While entertaining enough, I had a few key issues with this book. Can you imagine reading a book where the protagonist has no personality? Yeah, me neither, yet that’s somehow what happened here. I have no idea how the author pulled that one off.
The only thing I *can* tell you about the main character is how horrifically misogynistic he is! From complaining about dating “too traditional” of a girl, but she’s so beautiful so it’s fine! To offhand comments about only staying with her for her body, I was gagging.
Furthermore, the important part about realistic fiction…is the realistic bit! And that’s where Bhagat missed the mark quite a few times. Some of the shenanigans in the novel were just a little too dumb, a little too far, to be believable.
That being said, I was entertained, so it wasn’t a total waste of time. Pick this up if you love 3 Idiots and want to see the original story of our favorite IIT boys.

this was the biggest waste of time i have ever experienced since i learned to read.
A brilliant account of his(couldn't be all fiction!!) college life. Enough moments of laughter as well as more serious emotions.
I started reading this book because i liked 3 idiots movie, But don't have similar expectation because the story is different, and movie have portrayed the protagonist in different way.
I was expecting more at the end of the book, because i've felt the story stopped once they've passed IIT (i'm curious to know what happened after that?).
Ryan's character was different, but not that impressive to state the quote 'Intelligence matters not Grades', also i felt that Neha's character was too dramatic. Most of the time skeptical about characteristics whether this can be true in IIT.
I liked the Hari's dream at the end though :) didn't expect it to be a dream for a book.

A story written by Chetan Bhagat about friendship and how important it is to maintain it properly. The story of the movie "Three Idiots" was inspired from this book. There are three friends name Ryan, Alok and Hari. They are the students of a well known college in India. They got to know each other on the first day of their college and gradually became really good friends. 3 of them tries to have the best time of their lives without caring about anything at all including their grades. So, at the end, their CGPA is very low. 5 point something out of Ten. So, they are known as the five pointers. On the other hand, Hari is in a relationship with the daughter of his professor. This entire book shows the struggle of three friends trying to keep their heads above water. And how their grades affect their friendship, love life and Jobs. It also points out the fault in the education system.
.
I personally liked the movie more. (I know being a book lover, I am not supposed to say this.) But honestly, I felt that this book objectified women a lot. And the writing was kind of 'Trash'. But without this book, the legendary movie named "Three Idiots" wouldn’t have been made. So, I would say that the book was kind of okay. Though, I will not recommend it. I think It's good for light reading.

A good story but flawed execution. This book could have been significantly improved by a good editor or a better writer. The dialogue, at times, gave me the impression of someone literally and rigidly translating hindi dialogues into english, which makes them sound stilted in most instances. 3/5 for the story.
