Honestly, the male narrators voice and how he did the female voice kinda ruined it for me… sorry

I seriously adored this entire book. It had everything I love in a good steamy romance. Which is why I just had to give it the big 5 Stars. Easily one of my favorites of 2017.
So we have our hero Charlie, twenty-three years old and who is currently enrolled in the police academy. He's the all American good guy in every sense you can imagine. He has manners, honor, passion and most of all heart. A whole lotta heart. He was genuinely kind and sincere. He was such a huge, huge sweetheart. I absolutely fell in love with him right along with our heroine Ever.
Ever (such a unique name, btw. Apparently her mother was too out of it post-birth when the nurse asked for her named and instead of sounding like Esther it came out Ever, haha!) But Ever was a little more difficult to understand from the beginning unlike Charlie. Although it became very easy to get to know her and her motivation behind what she called the "Mistress Manifesto" way of life she was brought up by. Ever, who is twenty-two worked her ass off with her friend and roommate Nina to open a catering business which is a centerpiece in a few of her solo scenes.
I probably described Ever quite poorly but it's hard! Ever and Charlie were such complex characters. They had many layers and so much in common that they didn't realize until finally digging deeper and leaving the shallow end of their relationship behind. I adored seeing them evolve and I loved being in Charlie's head. His POV was always so heartfelt and you just FELT everything in bright technicolor. You just KNEW he was in love with Ever but you were there along for the ride as he followed the path to discovering it for himself. Charlie was easily the best part of this book. He just fought so valiantly for Ever regardless of not understanding his actions and having no self-control when it came to her. He KNEW she deserved more than he could give but he was selfish. He absolutely hated the idea of her with another man in any context. And although his motivations in the beginning weren't entirely innocent when trying to win her back and a little blinded by his own selfish wants his heart really was in the right place. Which was a joy to read as he analyzed his own actions at the end of the book realizing how blind he was to certain things and Ever's feelings and what he did to make up for it.
Honestly, this book was just lovely. I can't say it enough. I genuinely loved it. I will absolutely re-read it one day. It had heart, a little angst, fantastic dirty talk when things got steamy, humor and a beautiful HEA. I look forward to Jack and Danika's stories as well as I assume those are next in line after that epilogue. Cannot. Wait!

Imagine you have a stalker who is a trainee police officier and you can’t go to the police to say he’s stalking you because his family happens to work there too. So you move and change your identity!! This would have been more realistic than this story. Anyways, it’s a book and I can close on my eyes and pretend I don’t know what stalking is. Good vibes tho

I got close enough to the end of this book to consider it finished. I read it in fits and starts because even though it was well-written and steamy (it is Tessa Bailey after all), I found the central plot a bit annoying. It was a bit one-note with the hero just refusing to accept that he could be in love with the heroin and his reasons for not wanting any kind of attachment were a bit daft - I know they stemmed from his relationship with his mother but his behaviour was still a bit annoying and selfish. I did enjoy that the set up was different to most other romance novels where they started out as a casual fling and then became friends.
